a wee bit about me!

Hello…you have stumbled across a little page about the author of this bloggy thing here. I am Carrie… Carrie Berry, Car-o-la… and since I’ve opened the shop, my new name is “how much is this?” I’ll answer to just about anything :)

I have a degree in film/animation from CalArts, but mostly I like to decorate. I rearrange things until dawn. Somebody has to. I also adore sparkly things and bowls. There’s something about a nice colorful bowl that is so very joyful! Fill the bowl up with a lovely collection of things… sheer bliss! Lately I’ve been squirreling away little cupcake beads, gemstones, pearls and crystals… I sometimes make things to share but you should see my collections tucked away in my little boxes. Why is it so hard to part with them?? oooh, and glass glitter!! Very nifty stuff!

In 2003 I partnered with my Mom to open a little shop. We expanded to twice the size by 2004 and the opportunities to shuffle around furniture, baubles and our vintage finds are endless! You may often find me awkwardly trying to slide a large piece of furniture to another part of the shop at 2am. Being obsessive/compulsive sometimes requires muscle… I know I know… lift with your knees, yeah yeah :) That’s what I adore most about having a shop… being able to change everything around on a whim. Setting a “stage” for any character, celebration, holiday or event that comes to mind. I’ve been told that the shop is a retreat after work, a place to unwind or a haven of inspiration… when I hear such things, my heart most certainly flutters :) Thank you!!

I have very great people in my life who offer encouragement, good advice and are awesome listeners! How they have put up with my rants and creative obsessions (halloween costumes the night before, and my keen sense of procrastination for example) I’ll never ever know!
also…our dog Nutmeg is really adorable… she’s mostly nose (and it’s getting pinker).

Thanks for reading all my posts about my endeavors, adventures in retail and ideas that may or may not come to fruition… but at least now I can say they exist somewhere other than my mind’s eye :) Stop by as often as you like, comment away and never stop creating!

p.s.- I can’t spell worth a darn… but I’m good at calculus!
p.s.s- oh yeah… and I love Disney and Disneyland… it’s kind of apparent!

I like these quotes :)

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way–things I had no words for.
Georgia O’Keeffe

A Good artist has less time than ideas.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
Pablo Picasso

Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.
Lewis Carroll

Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.
Camille Pissarro

He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.
